The eight kootas
| Koota | Points | What it weighs |
|---|---|---|
| Varna | 1 | Spiritual compatibility and the balance of ego. |
| Vashya | 2 | Mutual attraction, and who naturally holds influence. |
| Tara | 3 | Destiny and wellbeing — whether each star supports the other's health and fortune. |
| Yoni | 4 | Physical and sexual compatibility, scored on the fourteen-animal table. |
| Graha Maitri | 5 | Mental affinity. The koota most predictive of friendship inside a marriage. |
| Gana | 6 | Temperament — Deva, Manushya or Rakshasa disposition. |
| Bhakoot | 7 | Prosperity and family growth, from the distance between the Moon signs. |
| Nadi | 8 | Constitution and the vitality of children. The heaviest single koota. |
18 is the threshold
Eighteen of thirty-six is the traditional minimum for a recommended match. Twenty-five and above is considered strong; thirty-two and above is rare.
Doshas can be cancelled
Nadi and Bhakoot doshas have well-established exemptions. The tool applies them and tells you which one applied, rather than leaving a score looking worse than it is.
It is not the whole picture
Guna Milan ignores dasha timing, the seventh house and the strength of Venus and Jupiter. For a marriage decision, sit with the reader and go through both charts properly.
